- [S21053] Kirchenbuch Krapendorf - Taufen.
- [S3191] Private Auskunft.
von Frau Betty Krull, NL.
Eventuell bezieht sich diese Angabe auf den 1883 in Rotterdam gestorbenen Theodor Taphorn aus Meppen.
- [S3191] Private Auskunft.
von Fred Rump, USA:
- Theodor Taphorn was with the 54th NY Infantry, which is why you could not find him in the Ohio rosters. He was a Private with Company A from September 19, 1861 until he mustered out on January 9, 1863. His pension claim says "while in line of duty at Battle of Rappahanock Station, Va. on or about the 21st day of August 1862, a horse running against him broke his left arm--his left hand and arm is still stiff from the effects of said injury."
- He moved to Ohio after the Civil War. At the time of submitting this pension claom (January 11, 1876) he resided in Rawsonville, Lorain County, Ohio. He returned to Germany after 1880, as his pension was closed about that time. He was 32 years old in 1876, He would have been 17 when he enlisted (or was pressed to serve?) in the army. I suppose this from the actual pension application #213156.
- On June 21, 1886, Milo B. Steven & Co., War Claim Attorneys in Cleveland, Ohio, seeking a letter address writes: "The claimants last know address was Lohne, Germany Grossherzogtum Oldenburg, Fr. Bramlage & Co."
