Obituary
The Hooper Sentinel
September 24, 1914
Mrs. J. H. G. Meyer, a pioneer of this vicinity passed away at her home in Scribner, Friday morning at eight o'clock cause of demise being dropsy and complications from which she had been a sufferer for the past two years.
Miss Anna Caterina Luers was born in Mohrsausen, Germany, April 12, 1844 and was therefore 70 years, 5 months, 6 days old. She was married there to Mr. Meyer, June 29, 1866. They came to America in August 1880 and homesteaded a farm 5 miles northwest of our city where they resided until the spring of 1909 when they moved to
Scribner where she spent the remainder of her life.
Besides the aged husband six children are left to mourn her death. They are Mrs. Christ Sass, Mrs. Frank Hartung, Henry, of our vicinity, Mrs. John Hargens, Uehling, Mrs. Fred Kitzerow, Stanton and George of this neighborhood.
Funeral services were held from her late home at Scribner, Monday, at 1:00 p.m. followed by services at the church, Rev. Pflug officiating. Interment in the cemetery 3 miles northwest of Hooper, where Rev. Jul Frese had charge of the services.
The bereaved ones have the sincere sympathy of their many friends in their affliction. Meyer, Anna
