      HERMAN-HATKE DEAD

      TYPHOID WAS CAUSE OF DEATH

Was a Prominent Farmer and Highly Respected. Resided North of Town

On Monday the sad news reached us of the death of Herman Hatke, a prominent and highly respected farmer residing only, a short distance north of this city. It is hard to have to chronicle the departure of such men as t he deceased for to know him was to like him and the loss will be keenly felt in the entire community. The worthy gentleman who has been snatched from us at the moment of his election to the fuller joys of life, and in t he middle of the contest for the better things of this world, while his desires were as warm and his hopes as eager as ours, has feelingly told us what shadows we are and what shadows we pursue.

Mr. Hatke was born near this place on August 14, 1868, and departed this life November 15, 1915, being at the time of his demise, 47 years, two months and one day old. Just five years
ago on the date of his death he was married to Miss Philomena Pike of Effingham and to this union was born one child, Mary, who with the grief stricken mother is left to mourn their loss of a kind and loving husband and father.

He also leaves three brothers, viz: Henry of Idaho. Ben of Canada and Frank of this place; and two sisters, Mrs. Frank Pundsack and Mrs. John Behrman of this immediate vicinity. Mrs. John Rieman another sister proceeded h im to the great beyond about a year ago.

Funeral services were held from St Francis Church Wednesday morning at 0:00 o'clock, followed by interment in St Francis Cemetery.

The heartfelt sympathy of the entire community goes out to the bereaved ones in their great hour of sorrow and we join with their many friends in extending condolence to them.
