B. J. Meyer Rites Are Held Friday
Funeral services were held Friday at the First Lutheran Church for
B. J. Meyer, age 81. He died the preceding Tuesday at the West
Point Hospital where he had been hospitalized the past month.
Bernard John Meyer was born Feb. 10, 1883 at Hooper. He attended
rural school in Dodge County and also the old Fremont Norman. He
lived and farmed in the Uehling area until 1946 when he and Mrs.
Meyer retired in Oakland. He was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran
Church at Hooper where he was a member many years.
On June 10, 1908 he was married to Frieda Kindschuh of Oakland, she
preceded him in death in 1962.
Survivors include one son, Kermit Meyer, Hooper, three daughters,
Mrs. Raymond Baker and Mrs. Laverne Moseman, Oakland and Mrs. Elwood
Carlson, Spokane, Wash.; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren;
five sisters, Mrs. Lars Jorgensen and Mrs. Bertha Jorgensen,
Oakland, Calif.; Mrs. Kathryn Schlee, Walden, Colo.; Mrs. Gustav
Wurdeman, Omaha and Mrs. Henry Dicke, Stratton; one brother, John
Meyer, Uehling.
Rev. Emory Pokrant officiated at the services. Music was furnished
by Leigh Moseman accompanied by Mrs. Ewald Dahlquist.
Pallbearers were Leigh Moseman, Mark Moseman, John Meyer, Roger
Meyer, Harold Jorgensen, and Irving Larson. Interment was at the
Oakland Cemetery with Palmquist Funeral Home in charge.
